The Werder players are back at the wohninvest WESERSTADION ahead of the new season. They completed performance tests on Sunday and Clemens Fritz, head of professional football and scouting, spoke to the media for the first time before the new campaign. He spoke of some busy weeks ahead, but stressed how excited the team is for the club’s return to the Bundesliga.

The preparation for the 2023/23 season is set to get underway tomorrow with individual performances tests. Team training will officially begin at the wohninvest WESERSTADION on Wednesday 22nd June.

It was announced on Friday that Werder Bremen would kick off their 2022/23 Bundesliga season with an away game. Ole Werner’s team will travel to VfL Wolfsburg on matchday 1. “We’re pleased to be back,” said Werner.

SV Werder Bremen will begin 2022/23 away to VfL Wolfsburg. The first matchday of the new Bundesliga season will be played on the weekend of 6th August. VfB Stuttgart will be the first visitors to the wohninvest WESERSTADION. The DFL announced the fixture list on Friday morning.

The team will be able to enjoy a few more days off, before pre-season training officially begins on 19th June. However, five players will not be back in Bremen just yet to join in on Sunday’s individual performance tests.

Jan-Niklas Beste will not return to SV Werder Bremen after the expiry of his loan spell with SSV Jahn Regensburg. The 23-year-old has joined second-division team 1. FC Heidenheim with immediate effect. The clubs agreed to keep the details undisclosed.

SV Werder Bremen will play Energie Cottbus in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. The game will take place at the Stadion der Freundschaft on Monday, 1st August 2022 at 18:00 CEST, as announced by the DFB on Wednesday morning.

Milos Veljkovic’s Serbia took on Slovenia in their fourth Nations League match this summer. The centre-back started the game, as he did against Sweden and Norway. Despite taking a 2-0 lead, the Serbs had to settle for a point. Marco Friedl was in the Austria squad for their game against Denmark, but he had to watch their defeat from the bench.
